Telehealth at Performance in Motion
Mar 23, 2020The coronavirus pandemic has challenged us to rethink how we can continue to deliver the very best in Physical Therapy and Performance Training care while remaining socially responsible and best protecting our patients, community, and team from unnecessary exposure. Because of this, Team PIM will be temporarily offering our services via Telehealth.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is using electronic information and telecommunication technologies (ie – the internet, video conferencing, phone calls) to provide clinical health care and education. This can be done through your computer or handheld mobile device (ie – tablet, mobile phone).
What do I need to participate?
The best part about Telehealth is that it is “social distancing” friendly. In other words, you can participate from the comfort of your own home or office. Space and equipment needed is minimal. Please inquire directly with your Physical Therapist for specifics.
In order to video conference, you can use any mobile device (tablet or mobile phone) or any desktop or laptop with a working microphone and camera. We are utilizing the following platforms to deliver Telehealth services:
- Google Hangouts Meet: Google’s video conferencing software is an encrypted, HIPAA compliant service that is easy-to-use and accessible through any computer or mobile device. Through Google Hangouts Meet, we can easily schedule visits, send you reminders with a link and/or dial up info, and direct message you throughout your appointment. No Google or Gmal account is necessary to participate! If you are planning to use your mobile device, please download the “Hangouts Meet by Google” app from your App Store and register. It is free!
- Apple FaceTime: if you have an iPhone, iPad, MacBook, or iMac, your are welcome to utilize FaceTime for your Telehealth appointments as the Office for Civil Rights at the Department of Health and Human Services is allowing Physical Therapists to provide Telehealth service that may not comply completely with the requirements of the HIPAA rules during the COVID-19 national emergency period. Please note that this temporary exception for Telehealth applies to Apple FaceTime.
How much will it cost?
We are offering Telehealth service during this season to minimize any disruptions in your rehabilitation or performance training journey that the coronavirus pandemic may have otherwise caused. Because of this, we simply want you to get the care you need! We are pleased to offer our current patients their first Telehealth visit on a complimentary basis and will be applying a significant discount on follow-up visits from our standard fee schedule rates. Please inquire with your primary Physical Therapist for details.
Please be patient with us…
We simply ask for your patience with us during this transition! Please know that we are figuring out this Telehealth model as we go and our “home studios” will be far from professional grade. Technical glitches are bound to happen along the way, but we will make it through this! Your patience is much appreciated.
As always, we want to Thank You for being a part of our team and for your understanding and support in our decision to postpone face-to-face visits in our clinics at this time. Please reach out to your primary Physical Therapist or to [email protected] to get started or if you have any questions or concerns.
Looking forward to keeping you moving on Telehealth! Be safe!
